From the Crypt Thursday

Hello everyone!  How are you all this fine Thursday morning?
As you all know, we do either a Toot Toot Thursday, or From the Crypt Thursday... Toot Toot is of course a tutorial, and last week Suzi mesmerized us with her awesome watercolor skills!  From the Crypt Thursday is when we bring back an old stamp(s) that may have been buried down deep under all the new stuff... and let's face it here at SBS there is a lot of new stuff!

Today I am bringing back Freddy Kruger Boy... or is it Freddy's back!  HA!
Either way he is too cute isn't he?  Never thought I'd say that about Freddy!  LOL
My toddler, found comfort in the arms of Michael Meyers, what does that say about his parents sheesh!  Of course at the time he was 1 1/2, and saw Alex (Michael Meyers) my son's friend putting on the costume!  He knew it was Aex (he called him that for the first year, couldn't pronounce the L). Anyhow, I am supposed to be talking about the stamp right?

Freddy Kruger Boy is available in deep etched red rubber, and is cushion mounted.  I am having him on sale this week until next Wednesday for $5.00!  The price after that will be $8.25.  Please remember that many of our older stamps will also be going up in cost October 1st.  As I have re-ordered many, many lines prices went up everywhere and so I unfortunately had to follow the trend.  Clear will be $6.25, rubber will vary from $8-$9.50, depending on sizes.

I hope you enjoy my From the Crypt layout using Freddy, see you all next week with a Toot or a From the Crypt stamp!

Spotlight on You Wednesday

Hello all you happy people out there!  It's our Spotlight on You Wednesday again!  Whoohoo!

Today we have Regan!

Here's what Regan! had to say about Simply Betty Stamps...

I am relatively new to Simply Betty Stamps, but it was love at first sight!  A challenge blog I design for was being sponsored by SBS and so I was doing research, browsing the gallery on splitcoaststampers.  What I found were these fun, funky, freaky images that sent me scurrying off to the shop web site to buy a few digis!  And just like that, I was hooked!  I now have a growing collection and an ever expanding wish list with each fabulous release Betty debuts!  There is such a variety to the art - from emo to steampunk to zombies, Simply Betty has everything a crafty girl could want and more!  Besides, I feel that Betty must be a kindred spirit - she loves Halloween as much as I do!  As soon as she said there were going to be not one, not two, not three, but four Halloween releases, I hope she knew she was stuck with me!

Let's see what Regan has prepared with our images!

Well were those great projects or what?!  Please leave Regan! some lovin' for us, she rocked the images as all our spotlight guests have!  See ya next Wednesday for Spotlight on You, where YOU could be the star!

Toot toot Thursday from the Crypt!!

Good Morning Simply Betty Stamps fans, today it's my turn to share a project with you, so i thought i would combine a little Toot with the from the Crypt feature.

Today i'm showcasing the Emo Betty Witch stamp...
Isn't she the most perfect image for your Halloween projects.  Today Betty Witch is having her portrait painted with watercolours; yes i've a little watercolour toot to show you how to make a stamped image look like a watercolour painting.

First of all you need some watercolour paper and a permanent ink, I used Stazon in stable brown to stamp Betty.  I then added a very rough wash of blue for the sky, and some green for the ground.

As you can see my background is very rough, just there to give an impression of colour and some movement.

Next i blocked in the main colours on Betty...

I used a slightly smaller brush for this stage, for Betty's skin I added a wash of pinky red, which was way to red, so using a tissue I removed most of the wet paint, with left a nice rosy colour behind.

Next I added in some mid tones to Betty and her outfit and hair...
I also added some darker green to the ground to give the impression of shadows, and to help plant the image.

I then changed to a smaller brush, and working with slightly thicker paint, started to add some shadows.  I left it to dry before adding my final shadows, and some colour to Betty's lips..
I also added a thin wash of red/purple to Betty's outfit and hat, just to blend it a little more, and warm it up.  I also added some dark red/purple/brown to the cat.

So that's the finished painting, but it still looks a bit rough, that's partly down to my painting style (which isn't the best) and to the fact that it needs a frame.

I used a Spellbinders frame die, and some Co-ordinations cardstock to create a frame.
That's it, a fun little watercolour portrait.  I hope you like it and have time to have some fun with your watercolours.

Bye for now
Suzi
